Pizza

We make our dough using a starter that has been fermented for at least 48 hours to create the perfect texture, and finish off each crust with a brush of our house-made garlic oil. Our ingredients are sourced from vendors in the community to create a consistent and authentic, New York Style slice that will keep you coming back for more.

Drinks

Our drink menu has an array of options to help you truly embrace the Y2K vibes. Whether you’re looking for a Hurricane slushie served in a sick tiki mug, a botanical bourbon-based cocktail inspired by Bob Powers, or a straight up beer* – we have you covered.

Our Story

In the early 1980’s Nick Polimenakos, a young Greek immigrant living in Chicago, set out in search of a brighter future for his family on the West Coast. Working in restaurants as a server for the better part of a year, he searched for a place to call his own and the opportunity to reunite his family in Seattle. Finally, he found the perfect fit – Vera’s.

In 1985 the Polimenakos family took over ownership and continued to operate Vera’s as a diner 7 days a week, 365 days a year for over 35 years – becoming a true Ballard staple. As the neighborhood grew and changed around it, so did the appetite for their everyday American diner cuisine and in 2019 they decided to pivot, turning Vera’s into a Y2K themed bar and pizza spot.

Now owned and operated in partnership with his son, Vasilios Polimenakos, Vera’s still holds onto its long-standing charm and family values preserving details like the original sign built in 1960 by Vera’s boyfriend, photos of historic Ballard displayed in the bar, and a fun inviting environment where all are welcome to show up authentically for a slice, a drink, or a game of pinball.
